back to school 🏫

that September feeling is approaching...

- Posted byHannah Miller

Hello one and all,

It’s back to school season. Even if you don’t have children, or your children have long fled the nest, I think we all get this feeling at the end of August. The fresh start, new stationery, time to set some goals. I love September. I think I also hate it in equal measure. It’s the feeling of beginning again, setting off again, but also the feeling of busy, full diaries (have to say I’m more grateful for that this year than usual!), it’s about celebrations (two birthdays in our house on same day) but it’s also about full speed ahead and so much to get done.

Do you get that feeling in September? We are all about to hit the ground running. Are you ready for that? Do you even want it to look that way?

I thought I would give us a few questions and thoughts to reflect upon this week, so that we go into the next month fully armed and ready. Get yourself a drink and pen and paper if you like, and take fifteen minutes to look back and then look forward.

  1. What am I thankful for from this previous season?
  2. Look back over the last three months. What are you proud of (big things and little things welcome!)
  3. What am I glad to let go of, or need to let go of so that I can enter the Autumn in the right frame of mind?
  4. What am I excited about in this coming season?
  5. Is there anything that I am dreading/ not looking forward to? If so, how can I prepare well, or, is there any way it doesn’t have to happen?
  6. What are my priorities for September?
  7. What do I need to let go of for September?
  8. What, about me, needs to change?
  9. What, about life, needs to look different?
  10. Is there a word that might encapsulate the focus for the autumn?
  11. What’s the one thing I most want from this season?
  12. What is my intention?

Take the time to think, reflect and prepare for this season. Let’s do our best to avoid sleep-walking into the next period of our life, but instead proactively shape it to be all that we desire to be.
