When Something Needs to Change (but not yet)

Hi all,

It’s week three of January.

It's the week of post-Christmas reckoning, I reckon. The festivities feel far away, so-called Blue Monday is just around the corner, and yet the much longed-for summer season still feels light years away. Maybe you’re sat back at your desk, back in Teams meetings, sending emails, seeing clients, leading meetings, taking lessons, speaking to patients, and you just simply feel the nudge to move on. You’re thinking to yourself - I can’t stay here forever… but I can’t leave yet, either.

The Groundhog Day of it all is grinding you down, but you’ve got responsibilities, family, a mortgage, you can’t just up and leave right this minute, even if you were one hundred percent sure you wanted to. This is so normal, and happens to most of us at one point or another of our lives.

You’re stuck, at least temporarily.

For whatever reason, you’re not ready to move on, but you sense it might be on the horizon.

What this does tell us, is that we need to do something.

It’s a signal to you that something needs attention, even if it’s just the quiet, tiny shifts for now.

The bigger ones can come down the track, but the small shifts to help life feel better are what you need to do right now to improve your work and everyday life.

This week’s podcast is all about those kinds of actions.

Small shifts, not dramatic leaps, no immediate resignations. Just small, doable steps that quietly prepare you for the brave decisions when the time is right.

The podcast this week gives you ten doable actions that will improve the way life looks right now, and get you ready for the bigger shifts in due course.

But, here’s a 5 quick tips to start preparing for what’s next:

Instead of focusing on surface-level frustrations, get curious: “What exactly feels impossible?” Money? Fear? Identity? Loyalty? Once you can name it, you can start working with it.

You’re not just doing the job you’re paid for. You’re also doing the job of managing your thoughts, emotions, and energy around it. Which one is truly draining you? Understanding this can reveal whether you need boundaries, a new perspective, or a long-term change.

Stop waiting for a full epiphany. Instead, notice tiny breadcrumbs: a task that energises you, a moment you enjoyed, something you admired in someone else’s work. These small signals are enough to start navigating the path forward.

Courage is a skill, not a switch. Start practicing now with micro-actions: read the purpose pursuit, jot down small achievements, ask one person for advice, read a job description without pressure. You’re training your inner courage system.

Not perfect, just more sustainable. Set a small boundary, tweak a task, or add a 5-minute ritual before or after work. These tiny adjustments can protect your energy while you figure out the bigger picture.

There’s so much more in this week’s episode, from strengths-based strategies to exercises that help you uncover what you truly want next. Honestly, it’s packed with practical, research-backed tools to make change feel possible without overwhelming you.

You don’t have to leave your job today. You don’t need a dramatic leap. But you can start quietly, courageously preparing for what’s next, and when the time is right, those tiny shifts will meet their breakthrough.

Love,

Hannah x
